My Journey from Insecurity to Confidence — One Word at a Time

🧭 Introduction:

In 2021, I was just a regular Pashto-speaking teenager who had barely passed 10th class. But there was one thing holding me back more than anything else: my poor English skills. I felt invisible in conversations, ashamed in front of others, and limited in a world where English opened all the doors.

What followed next completely changed my life.

💡 Why English Mattered So Much to Me

Growing up in a Pashtun society, I rarely saw people around me speak English fluently. In fact, even trying to learn it often brought ridicule. But deep inside, I knew — if I could master English, I could change my life.

English wasn’t just a language; it was my gateway to confidence, communication, and global opportunity.

📚 How I Started Learning English

With three months of vacation after 10th grade, I made a bold decision: to learn English. I joined an academy for 6 months and started from scratch.

I struggled. A lot.

But then I heard something that stuck with me forever — a quote from my English teacher, Mr. Asad Khan:
“Practice makes a man perfect.”

That line became my inner voice.
I started watching hours of YouTube videos. Two channels became my favorites:

  • English with Lucy
  • Linguamarina

Their content wasn’t just educational — it was motivational.

💪 Practice, Practice, Practice

For over a year, I practiced English every single day — even when I was mocked or ignored. I spoke to myself in the mirror. I recorded videos. I mimicked accents. I even wrote my thoughts in English daily.

And slowly… I changed.

From someone who could barely introduce himself to someone who could speak fluently, confidently, and clearly.

💥 What Changed After I Learned English

  • I started creating content in both English and Urdu.
  • I gained confidence to speak publicly.
  • I began building skills like video editing, scriptwriting, and digital marketing.
  • Most importantly, I stopped hiding and started expressing myself.

Learning English became the foundation for everything I’ve achieved so far — including starting my YouTube channel, working as a social media manager, and launching my own agency.

✨ Final Thoughts

If you’re someone from a non-English background, especially in rural or conservative areas, know this:

You don’t need talent to learn English. You need consistency, purpose, and belief.

If a Pashtun boy like me can go from zero to fluent, so can you.
